Archive for April, 2008

On 19 April, we (Ayoh+Mok+ Adik, Mynie+Hanief+Munief+Afiefah, me+Arifah+Aidah) went to a wedding reception. Ust Udah (Mufleh’s dad) is my father’s friend from UKM (they are quite close somehow inter faculty, FST – FPI things? I dont know), and Dr Ramli (Nathasa’s dad) is also his friend way back from 1970-an when they studied together in UKM Lembah Pantai and also in the UK.

Obviously, Nathasa and me are friends ever since I can remember, we have our picture taken together in a seaside in England where we played on  the sand, all 4 of us; Tasha and his brother, me and Mynie  (I think – I will find it later in ayoh’s website). And to make things closer, we were classmates since standard 1 Hijau until standard 6 Merah in SRK BBBangi, Jalan 2). I remembered wearing Aunty Jarah’s wedding dress(!!), a green kebaya songket suit when performing the evil wife of Si Tanggang (actor: Nazran Sham). That was 1988, standard 4 Merah. What a day, I still can remember the moments when we were suppose to sink with the ship.

Anyway, here is Natasha Mazna and her beloved husband Mohd Soleh Mufleh (if I didnt come to your nikah ceremony, I would’t know your full name!).

Mufleh with me has a different story. We were at the same school of SRK BBBangi as well (with Tasha), but different class. But during sekolah agama (JAIS-kain hijau), I met and noticed him. We were in the same class in Standard 5, SRA Sg Merab. I tried to join this school because we had just moved in to Sg Merab, but later I had to quit and re-enter SRA BBB (sebelah Balai Polis BBB). The following year,  I met him again, in tuition class for UPSR in Ust Idris’s residence in Teras Jernang (Mynie bought a piece of land from him in Sg Merab). Ust Idris is founder of Asrama Anak Yatim Darul Izzah. Ahmad (Ust Idris’s son) later weds Dr Wahab’s #5; daughter who is doing medic in UIA ( classmate of Zidni, my brother #3). There were only 10 of us in that class room, using a table tennis as the only table for all of us.

Then I lost track of him. One day, in SMKA S Kajang, when I was in form 2, while going down the stairs from the Headmaster’s office to the teacher’s room, I saw his dad. I great salam to him, and then I saw Mufleh. Later, he was in my classroom, sitting in front of me. All the while being ‘at his back’, I seldom heard his voice. I know he always makes jokes, because I can tell when he is laughing his back shakes, ha ha ha… And every now and then, sometimes every day, we went home together on the BDK 6594, the Sum Bus (bas merah), but we never talk. I still remember Uncle Veluyutham, he knows  where I live, so he would stop exactly in front of the road leading to my house, the last stop before taling the same route back to Kajang. Mufleh and I started having conversation, I think after I graduated from UKM in 2001. He came to our house (my parents were there) in one occasion (alone), I can’t remember why. Do you, Mufleh?Din

Mufleh and Tasha. All the best for you guys, have fun staying in Australia!!!  Some of our friends come to the wedding. Here are they…. Ahmad Nasruddin ‘Atiqullah Fakhrullah and family.

Nazaha Idris with husband, Amin and boys, Hakimi and Hafiy.Nazaha

I had a 5 days seminar in Quality Hotel Shah Alam, recently. Just get back yesterday. The schedule is very tight I could not bring anyone, plus I had to share the room with June. This is the chance to get to know her better, and also learn (English of course!) because she had lots of experience teaching English. We went shopping to Shah Alam City Centre and Plaza Alam Central. I bought a cake stand. I have to jot this down, the significance is; this is the first time I bought ‘glass ware’ (is this a correct term?).

Firstly when I was told that the venue is Quality Hotel Shah Alam, I did not have a clue where it is. But when I got there, I remembered going once to our lawyer’s office to sign lots of documents (housing loan) which is situated on the same building. So, I have to thank the organizer for being here I was able to finalize the outstanding fees and also get an update on the progress of the process.  And also, I managed to get the pin number for the e-filling of LHDN matters both for me and my husband.

Arifah stayed at my mom’s, she sent and picked her up everyday to Taski Aisyah near our house everyday for the 5 days. Aidah stayed with her babysitter in Nilai. The 4 of us are physically in  different places!

At the end of the seminar, I can conclude I have learned how to become a better English teacher in terms of preparing them for exams. I also met friend from the same area. In my group, Zarinah from UIA Gombak, Suryani and Aida from UiTM Kelantan, Harieza Hashim from UKM, etc… Last but not least the buffet was good, at least for me. I tried to eat everything but it is impossible. One thing that I have learned from the head chef himself, if I want to keep the half boiled egg warm, cover it in / with rice.

On 18 April, I had a seminar on “How to Get Published” by Prof Dr Mohamed Amin Embi of UKM. We (3 English Tamhidi Teachers) went by van provided by USIM. I have been to the place in Nov 1999 for a Kursus Mahasiswa Cemerlang organized by UKM. The presentation by the speaker is very good. I had the opportunity to approach the speaker during tea break and he said if I am really interested to teach English, my niche would be English for Science and Technology since I already have a BSc and an MSc. His specialty is e-learning.

Glory Beach Resort PDLater that day, during lunch, I was handed a key by the organizer. The three of us should be able to make use of the room for resting and praying in the afternoon. Then to my friends’ surprise, it is a key to a 2 bedroom apartment. One thing lead to another, we decided to come that evening and stay overnight. June had to pass, she had to go home. But Afz wanted to stay. I called my mom, and she allow me to bring only 3 kids, Syiby, Ashbi and DikYa, plus my kids. So, when we got back to USIM later, I drove home and picked them up, with Afz driving WJY (I need to hold Aidah), off we went to Glory Beach Resort.

When we arrived, it was already 6.45 pm, but my brothers still wanted to go into the pool. Off we went, including me! Arifah had a really good time. The next day, we spent about 4 hours at the poolside. On the way home, all 4 of the tired chidren was sleeping soundlessly at the back, while I had a nice get-to-know conversation with my new collegue, Afzan.

Kemensah Wedding

Salam Muhibbah.

Last weekend was quite hectic for me. I did not go home to my parents’ as usual. Instead, we spend Friday evening and Saturday cleaning the house (Arifah did help me!). We went out to BBB Seksyen 1 for Sate Hj S@muri. At 3.30 pm, my mother in law along with 3 of her children came. She slept over with Saadah (the youngest) while the other two grown up boys stayed at Abg Lang’s place in Batu Caves.

Early in the morning, all of us (5)  make a quick pit stop at my parents and later arrived at Kemensah Heights at 11.00 am on time for the nikah ceremony of my husband’s second cousin, Rozianna Mohd Tahir. Mak Teh Rahimaton (the bride’s mother) is my father in law’s cousin. Here are some of the pictures taken.

See you soon. I am going to talk about an unplanned reunion of ex SMKA S at Mufleh’s wedding yesterday.

I am sorry, dear stranger.

I was driving home from work (Nilai to BBBangi, via Kg Jenderam Hulu) yesterday, in a heavy non-stop rain with Aidah beside me, when I saw a Proton Saga car stopped in the middle of the road with hazard lights on (3 cars in front just gave right signal and drove by because the other lane was vacant). On the other hand, I had to stop. A man with an umbrella dashed out from the car, in a panicking way, raising his hand to me (or the other drivers on the road). If I did not stop, I would not be able to see his face, his eyes. He saw me. I was attending to Aidah, she needs comforting so I put my left hand on her chest. He saw me doing that and he just gave the signal for me to go. So I left. When I passed by his car, I could see  the drivers head was pressed to the window and the eyes were closed. Is he fainted? Of heart attack? I felt sad. I am sorry stranger, I can not help you. In this situation, I wish my hubby is around. To my surprised, the other cars also followed me. Why cant you stop? Cant you see somebody needs your help there? Are you all helpless women with a little child like me? I felt bad, really bad. If I stop, I can bring the poor guy to Putrajaya Hosp that instant, and call my mother to take my eldest Arifah from school. I am sorry, stranger. I really do. I prayed for him all the way home, all the time until  I closed my eyes last night. Both were Indian men (I think I need to mention this).
